Oldies

We just received these pictures that a friend took back in December.

I realized that we really don't have too many of the three of us together.

The proverbial frown.

Patty Cake

Kyle often forgets lines to nursery rhymes so makes up his own words. I heard him singing Patty Cake to which I was surprised to hear him remember most of the words. But toward the end it turned into "...bake me a cake as fast as you can. Roll it, spin it, put it in a tin, and give it to you!" Which was fairly close, but then I chimed in with the more well known version, "Roll it, pat it, mark it with an E, and throw it in the oven for Esme and me!"

Kyle thought about it a minute and then said, "Nursery rhymes are so strange, why would you 'mark it with a knee?' That doesn't even make any sense!"

Not too swift with the nursery rhymes I guess.

The Scholar

Esmé spent the afternoon doing some light reading.

Then she decided to try her hand at crawling but was unsuccessful. She just can't seem to get those arms going!

Does Anyone Else...?

Does anyone else quietly lay their baby into her crib and try to stand up only to find that they have been ensnared by a mobile? Six stuffed fish on string attacking my head, burrowing into my hair, trying to strangle me. This happens to me fairly often.

Does anyone else plan their whole day around clipping their baby's nails? Waiting and carefully plotting for that perfect moment to pounce on those razor sharp talons?

Does anyone else bang their baby's head on the ceiling of the car every time they put her into the car seat? It's true, and I'm not proud of it.

Probably Only Exciting to The Biggest Esmé Fans

It was a big day today in baby development. Esmé rolled onto her stomach!

She's been hanging out on her side for several days now. And today a toy rolled too far away and she went for it. But once she was on her stomach, she didn't know what to do because her arm was trapped under her body and she still couldn't reach that toy! So I gave her a little help dislodging that arm and she was rewarded with a glorious Winnie the Pooh squeeze toy.

Our excitement sure comes in a different form these days.

We Think Esmé is Synonymous with Amadeus

Hubby Done Good

It was officially announced today so now I can brag about the good news... Kyle got some cash and stuff!

He made a short film called Hop the Twig.
Then he partnered with Josh.
Then they wrote a new screenplay called Wait for Rain.
Then they created a huge application package.
Then they sent it all in to the National Screen Institute.

NSI liked Kyle's film, and they liked the screenplay, and they liked his blue eyes (well, maybe that was just me) and they said, "Hey, since we like you so much, we'll give you $40,000 to turn that new screenplay of yours into a short film. And not only that, we'll give you free film making training taught by Canadian film experts. How does that sound?"

Kyle said it sounded good indeed.
